It is with great sadness that we have to announce that John Adams passed away last night, 12th April, at home with his family, after a long illness.

John had been an active member of the society for well over thirty years. He was a very talented engineer who was willing and able to turn his hand to most jobs, large or small. John was the leading light in the building of a new set of ashpans for us at the previous overhaul. It was also John who redesigned the layout of the valves and pipework for the air braking system on the locomotive, at the same overhaul.

As well as this, he was also our membership secretary for many years, until very recently.

He was a great asset to the society, and a great friend.

He will be sorely missed.
